Betsy Hays
As a 25-year resident, Betsy Hays has served the public as a leader in everything from scouts to sports to PTA and nonprofits to the being the President of the Chamber of Commerce. She knows how to effectively get things done here in Jefferson County through collaboration and communication. As a Board member, she enjoys working with multiple entities for the good of all concerned. Her goal on the EPRD Board is to be a good steward for our community working with fellow Board members to enhance the district, complete projects such as the Evergreen Lake North Trail and put into place and execute on the strategic plan that the current and future Board and staff use to improve what EPRD has to offer. She was elected to the Board for the first time in May 2022 for a 3-year term and is currently the Board President.
Betsy has a B.A. in International Relations from Wellesley College and an M.B.A. in Marketing from the Pennsylvania State University. She spent over ten years doing marketing and advertising for AT&T. She received the 2020 Leader of the Year Award from Leadership Evergreen, the 2020 Leadership Impact Award from the Rotary Club of Evergreen and was inducted into the Mountain Area Women in Business Hall of Fame in 2021.
Betsy and her husband John have lived in the Evergreen/Conifer area since 1995. They have three children that grew up in Evergreen and worked for EPRD. On serving on the EPRD Board of Directors she says, “I am honored to serve my local community by connecting the public with EPRD, the businesses, Jefferson County government, and others about how the Rec District serves us all and contributes to our way of life.”
