Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS)

Evergreen Lake is the main water supply for our area residents. Therefore, outdoor activities for public or recreational use on Evergreen Lake are subject to closure by Evergreen Metropolitan District (EMD) if the water quality/supply is at risk or if preventative measures are needed to mitigate the risk of potential contamination from Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS).  ANS are aquatic plants and animals that invade lakes, reservoirs, rivers, and streams and can have devastating environmental impacts on water.  Recreational vessels have the potential to be a significant source of the spread of ANS in Colorado. All private boats are required to have an ANS inspection each time prior to launch.
