Election Information

The Evergreen Park & Recreation District (EPRD) Board of Directors is an elected board required under Title 32, C.R.S. The Board provides a means for those elected officials to engage in policy-making decisions, which affect the park and recreation district. To serve, Board members are required to be registered to vote in Colorado and to live or own property within EPRD boundaries and represent the entire District. By law, Board members serve a four-year term, not to exceed more than two consecutive terms.

Board elections for special districts are currently held in May of odd-numbered years. Four-year terms will resume with the 2023 board election.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Evergreen Park and Recreation District, Jefferson County, Colorado, that at the close of business on the sixty-third (63rd) day before the election or thereafter there were not more candidates for Director than offices to be filled, including candidates filing affidavits of intent to be write-in candidates; therefore, the election to be held on May 2, 2023, is hereby cancelled.

The following candidates are declared elected:

  • Donald H. Rosenthal: Four-year term to 2027
  • Nina Armah: Four-year term to 2027

Candidate Information 

All candidates must first be a registered elector in the State of Colorado, AND be a:

  • Current resident of the District within the boundary named above; OR
  • The owner (or the spouse or the civil union partner of the owner) of taxable real or personal property situated within the boundaries of the District; OR
  • A person who is obligated to pay taxes under a contract to purchase taxable property within the District named above.

Self-Nomination and Acceptance Form - 2023 EPRD Board Election
Running for EPRD Board of Directors 

On May 2, 2023, two seats on EPRD’s Board of Directors will be up for election.  The two positions will be for a four-year term.  If you are interested in running, EPRD will have three informational meetings to learn about board responsibilities and eligibility.  We will also have two board members (not running) to answer any questions.

Dates and Times for Meetings:

  • Tuesday, Jan 31st  - 1 PM at Wulf
  • Wednesday, Feb. 8th - 6 PM at BPRC
  • Thursday, Feb 23rd - 6 PM at Wulf
Call for Nominations 

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, and particularly, to the eligible electors of the Evergreen Park & Recreation District (“District”) of Jefferson County, Colorado. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the District will conduct a regular election on the 2nd day of May, 2023, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to elect members of its Board of Directors. At that time, two (2) directors will be elected to serve a four-year term. Eligible electors of the Evergreen Park and Recreation District interested in serving on the Board of Directors may obtain a Self Nomination and Acceptance form from the District Designated Election Official (DEO):

The Self-Nomination and Acceptance Form must be returned to the DEO by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023.  The form can be emailed to the DEO at the email address noted above.  

A Self-Nomination and Acceptance Form that is not sufficient may be amended once at any time before 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023.  Earlier submittal is encouraged as the deadline will not permit correcting an insufficient form if received at 5:00 p.m. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that application for an absentee ballot may be filed with Micki Mills, DEO, at the contact information referenced above, no later than the close of business on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.

2023 Election Dates 
  • January 1 - First day to file Self-Nomination and Acceptance Forms with the DEO
  • January 22 – February 16: Publication of the Call for Nominations. 
  • February 24: Last day to file Self-Nomination and Acceptance Forms with DEO, no later than 5 PM  A Self-Nomination and Acceptance Form that is not sufficient may be amended once at any time before 3 PM on Friday, February 24, 2023.  Earlier submittal is encouraged as the deadline will not permit correcting an insufficient form if received at 5 PM
  • February 28: Cancellation of the election if there are not more than two candidates for the election. 
  • The first week of March: Bios requested from candidates. Bios will be posted on our website for review.
  • May 2: Election Day – Polls open 7 AM-7 PM

Voter Information

  • April 3 – April 27: Absentee ballots mailed to eligible electors of the District. Application for Absentee ballot
  • April 25: Last day for voters to request an absentee ballot.
  • May 2: Election Day – Polls open 7 AM-7 PM
  • May 23: Following the election and posted results, EPRD will conduct their regular Board meeting and the new Directors will be sworn in at the beginning of the meeting; official capacity as a Board member begins after required filings are complete.
